This year the number of foreign students in Ukrainian universities has increased up to 35,000. The students from 131 countries came to Ukraine to obtain higher education.  

Kiev (Kyiv) and Kharkov (Kharkiv) are the biggest educational centers which provide education and training for foreign student. The number of foreign student reaches 7,500 in each of these cities. About 3,700 students came from abroad study in Odessa, the largest the Black Sea port-city of Ukraine.

The most famous universities  in Ukraine among foreign students are the Crimean Medical University and Kiev National Technical University, which host nearly 2,000 foreign students each.

Foreign students are attracted with inexpensive costs of study and life in Ukraine, good selection of courses, high professionalism of teachers and the general intelligent environment which is typical of Ukrainian society in general. The statistics showed that the number of foreign students in UKraine has doubled since 2000.

Ukraine has become an attractive spot because of combination of European style in education and inexpensive prices for study, compared to the costs of education established in Universities around the World.

The full 5-year higher education program and Diploma of Bachelor can be completed at the total cost of $7,000-$10,000, when in US the same cost is needed for only one year of university study.

Among the foreign students coming to Ukraine every third student applies for study at a Medical University. The demand for medical education in Ukraine is glowing along with the increasing demand for doctors with Ukrainian  diplomas of higher education in medicine.

The departments of engineering, economy and finances are also very popular among foreign students. All students, no matter what direction of study they are going to take, have to spend their first year in Ukraine learning Ukrainian or Russian language. A number of universities in larger cities have centers of Russian and Ukrainian languages for international students, where students go through adaptation to the new culture, socialize with each other, learn and communicate to be able to easily assimilate with Ukrainian culture and people for the following 5-6 years of study.
