Books exhibition
The 15th National Book Trade Exhibition “Forum of Publishers in Lviv” opens in Lviv on September, 11. The exhibition will last for four days.This is the largest book fair in Ukraine and one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe.
This year’s program features around 650 participants and over 260 events, including a charity action called “Give a Child a Book!” with assistance from the pop singer Ruslana. The collected books will be distributed to libraries in areas that were recently stricken by floods. Among the topics which are going to be highlighted on the forum is the problem at the Ukrainian book market – “Statistics and Analysis of the Book Market”.
During the Book Trade Exhibition it is planned to carry out business forum, international literary festival, the contest of the Best Book of the Publishers Forum, meetings with famous writers.
This year the forum is visited by a number of famous writers - Vladimir Sorokin and Tatiana Tolstaia (Russia), Adam Zagajewski (Poland), Marcelius Martinaitis (Lithuania), and Katherine Pancol (France), Georgian poet Davi-Defi Gogibedashvili, Poland dramatist Yanush Glovatskiy, and others.
During the book fair there will be an exhibit dedicated to the great Polish poet Zbigniew Herbert and a book launch of his three volumes of essays. Visitors to the forum will be able to acquaint themselves with Marcelius Martinaitis, one of the most well-known poets of Lithuania.
The forum became a special event for Lviv’s residents and guests of the city. Such activities help the society to raise their level of priorities, tastes, and preferences. The Forum of Publishers has attracted the numerous publishers, writers, bookworms, cultural workers and just booklovers to visit Lviv for these days. It became problematic to rent an apartment or book the room at the hotel.
