In his recent speech at the meeting of higher educational establishments' authorities, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine reported about the plans and tasks of external testing for the year 2009. According to the new rules introduced by Ukraine’s higher educational establishments and the Ministry, all applicants will enter higher educational establishments only based on the results of the so-called independent external testing.
The minister has informed that the external testing in 2009 will include testing the following subjects: Ukrainian language and literature, history of Ukraine,
mathematics, chemistry, geography, physics, biology, and foreign language. The school graduates have the right to undergo testing on no more that five school subjects.
Also Vakarchuk told that the significant change in the Educational System that the results of the external testing will be taken as the results of the entrance exams to the Higher Educational Establishments in Ukraine.
The minister also confirmed that 124 credits is set as the minimum rate of credits to obtain a successful testing certificate (rating scale of 200 credits) in the year of 2009. Each particular Higher Educational School has obtained the right to set the limit of entrance credits for its applicants according the certain faculties and specialties.
