Educational Tourism Overseas

There is a popular tendency to study a foreign language in the native country of this language. More and more tour operators today propose holidays that offer a combination of both, traveling and study. The typical tour itinerary includes: lodging, transportation, excursion and sightseeing programs, daily 4-6 hours of language course, and other items depending on your wishes and budget.

Tourism English Education is in the top list all over the world. In Ukraine the need to know English becomes a normal rather then peculiarity. There are dozens of local language schools which suggest the variety of courses, with respect to level of language and available time.
German, French, Italian, Chinese are also in demand among Ukrainians, which is mostly conditional on economical and cultural connection with these countries. 

Great Britain, the USA, Canada and Malta host English learners from all over the World. The most massive are the summer programs for children and teenagers up to 16 y.o. The big popularity has obtained the group tours for a month of active rest with combination of language course. Usually the local families provide lodging for foreign learners or the students are placed in campuses.
Ukrainians prefer go to Malta’s language schools, because of the warm climate and good prices for tours. The Malta’s language course for 4 weeks will cost for $800-1000 less then in Great Britain, which is about $2,800.

Another two popular directions to study English are Australia and Cyprus.  According to statistics only 5% of educational tourists go to Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy with the primary purpose to study the language.

The young people above 17 years old are prefer to spend vacation in the sport camps of the United States or Canada, live in the forests, sleep in the tents, doing rafting and studying language at the same time. The language program usually lasts for 3-4 weeks. There is not enough term to get confident language skills but it is good to have a nice rest, learn the culture and overcome the language barrier.

Besides the language courses there is a segment of educational tourism oriented to clients desired to upgrade professional skills. The cookery experts are recommended to visit Italy and clothes designers and hairdressers – travel to Paris, actors - to New York. The two months study of actor’s skills at New York Film Academy will cost $8,000 - $10,000. 

The number of foreign tourists visiting Ukraine is increasing rapidly. There are 1.7 million people visited Ukraine in 2008, this number is for 300,000 more than in 2007.  The growth of the dollar and euro has made it 57% cheaper for foreigners to spend their vacation in Ukraine, whether it is travel oriented or study.  The improved visa process between Ukraine and Europe, USA, Canada and Japan has also influenced to the rise in tourism area.

The number of educational tourists to Ukraine is constantly growth. There are number of schools which oriented on foreign clients.
